Policy support accelerates the development of the charging pile industry

Data released by the China Charging Alliance shows that from August 2023 to July 2024, the average monthly addition of public charging piles is about 83,000 units. As of July 2024, the leading companies in terms of the number of charging piles operated by national charging operation enterprises include: TELD operating 608,000 units, Star Charge operating 564,000 units, and Yunkuaicharge operating 538,000 units.

On January 9 of this year, the National Energy Administration's official website released a notice regarding the organization of the application for 'Demonstration Counties and Towns for Charging Infrastructure Construction', aimed at promoting the rapid development of charging infrastructure for new energy vehicles. With the support of policies, the charging pile industry is expected to welcome broader development space.

To adapt to the rapid growth of new energy vehicles and alleviate the charging difficulties in old communities, multiple cities are actively exploring innovative models. For example, cities like Hangzhou and Shanghai are building shared charging stations that allow charging piles to move intelligently and autonomously find vehicles, increasing the utilization efficiency of charging piles by three times; cities like Chengdu and Chongqing are building supercharging stations on highways, achieving the fastest charging of 'one second per kilometer'. As of now, a total of 27,200 charging piles have been built in national highway service areas, basically achieving full coverage across all provinces.

In addition, to promote the use of new energy vehicles in rural areas, China is accelerating the construction of charging infrastructure in county and township areas. Currently, more than one-third of provinces in the country have covered the layout of charging facilities to all towns, with places like Lishui District in Nanjing, Jiangsu, and Yuxi in Yunnan achieving 'full coverage of charging piles in every village'. Intelligent management has become a new development trend. Through Internet of Things technology, users can use mobile apps to check the usage status of charging piles in real-time, reserve charging times, and make remote payments. Additionally, some charging piles also have intelligent fault diagnosis functions, which can promptly identify and resolve issues during the charging process, enhancing the safety and reliability of charging.

However, technological innovation also brings some new problems. For example, fast charging technology places higher demands on the load of the power grid, requiring further optimization of power grid infrastructure; the cost of wireless charging technology is relatively high, and widespread application will take some time; the security and stability of intelligent management systems also need to be continuously strengthened.

Despite facing numerous challenges, the pace of technological innovation in the charging pile industry will not stop. In the future, with continuous technological advancements and cost reductions, more efficient, convenient, and intelligent charging technologies will continue to emerge, providing solid support for the widespread application of new energy vehicles and electric bicycles, leading a new trend in future mobility.
